Enable virtualization in ASUS AMD BIOS

Find SVM Mode, save your changes, and check virtualization in Windows.

Turn on SVM Mode

ASUS documents this path for its AMD platform. Menu layout can vary by model and BIOS version. Check your board’s BIOS manual if the setting is elsewhere.

  1. Restart the computer and press Delete during startup to enter UEFI BIOS.
  2. Switch to Advanced Mode if needed. Open Advanced → CPU Configuration.
  3. Set SVM Mode to Enabled.
  4. Press F10, review the changes, and confirm to save and restart.

Check the result

Open Task Manager in Windows and select Performance → CPU. Look for the virtualization status. Enabling SVM makes hardware virtualization available; installing WSL is a separate step.

If you cannot find SVM

Confirm the exact motherboard model and firmware version. Consult the matching BIOS manual. A general ASUS FAQ does not establish that every ASUS product exposes the same setting.

Documented procedure, not a hardware test. This guide does not recommend a BIOS update as the first troubleshooting step.
